My boss and friend is a strong believer in always keep learning and I got the honor of being her plus one to the first Girl Boss rally in LA this past summer. It was hosted by Nasty Gal founder, Sophie Amoruso, and was a two day event filled with seminars to help women be a community and a resource for growth in their personal and professional lives.

The speakers ranged from bloggers, CFOs, youtubers like Michelle Phan, authors, HR head and even some celebrities like Whitney Cummings and Paris Hilton. The topics range from money health, to how to manager up, to dealing with work burnout. They made sure to have seminars for everyone which was great, but also hard to choose from since many of them overlapped with one another.

Along with great talks, they had fun things like “boss shots” where makeup would be done and professional headshots would be taken. It was a little chaotic to be honest with not enough makeup people, but by the second day, they found their groove. I do wish they had less “loud”backgrounds to be able to use these headshots more universally, but it was still really nice to get to pose and get prints immediately.

Another great perk was the amazing food. With admission includes lunch from one of the local food trucks. I got to enjoy some sliders and tacos.

Lastly, the highlight was really getting to meet other like minded women who want to do more either in their personal life or professional life. It was cool making new friends and even collaborating with some. Here’s to more #girlpower xo
