Marciano Museum

I’m always looking for fun local FREE and most of all instagram worthy things to do in Los Angeles because I’m the ultimate tourist 😛 over three years in the City of Angels and I still feel like there is so much to explore…and Instagram 🙂

The latest LA find is the Marciano Museum – a contemporary art space in the heart of LA!

The exhibit I was most excited for was Yayoi Kusama’s With All My Love for the Tulips, I Pray Forever 2011, because her piece at the Broad blew my mind. I was going to beeline directly to her exhibit when we arrived, but the art docent recommended we go to Ai Wei Wei’s Life Cycle before a line started. I’m so glad we listened because Wei Wei’s creative story telling was amazing – there are layers upon layers. It was fun seeing “surprise” formations made out of bamboo.

Next we headed to Kusama’s piece! First of all, it was smaller than I expected. She is great at taking a smaller space and making it look larger like the Infinity Room. Also noted no shoes are allowed so be prepared to wear paper booties.

After taking a bajillion photos, we wandered the rest of the place. I’m grateful we did the first morning session available because there weren’t lines and it was easy to take our time. We spent roughly 2 hours here and parking is free in a lot behind the museum. Next available tickets are December 22nd aka tomorrow so I recommend if you’re looking for something fun to do this holiday break, to check it out xo
