End of the Ergobaby Era

After 13 years at Ergobaby, my time has ended. Unfortunately, I’ve been part of the layoffs under new ownership and I’ll be honest, I’m sad. Ergobaby was always more than a job for me. It’s been an anchor and constant for my entire 20s and now my 30’s. It’s where I learned how to work. It’s been the place I got to grow in professionally as I worked in customer service, dabbled in accounting, became an associate manager in marketing and event planning, executive assisted C suite and ended my tour in Human Resources. I definitely had hard days, but mostly good days – I enjoyed “changing lives” which could mean extending a job offer or helping a family get set up with baby products. I truly can say I loved the work I did.

This all is bittersweet because I always knew I couldn’t stay at Ergobaby forever, but I also could never be the one to choose to leave as it’s just not my personality – I’m the literal definition of a ride or die person. My boss (or I guess she’s my ex-boss now 🥲) said this is a time to spread my wings and I know she’s right, but I’m also pretty scared. It’s literally a whole new world in the job market and even though I’ve been the recruiter, it’s different being a candidate. But here goes the LinkedIn updating, reconnecting, networking and applying.

I really hope that my next paid work chapter (cuz let’s be honest, being a mom is the most work – just unpaid 😝) will begin again soon. I also really hope that someday soon I can look back on this layoff as a good pushing off point into something better for myself and my family. But right now, I’m really going to miss my Ergobaby family. I know I always said it’s not a goodbye, but a “see ya later” whenever someone ended their Ergo chapter, but it’s hard to say as the person now ending. So I’ll say this – thank you Ergobaby for being a constant through the exciting yet somewhat stressful unknown time of my twenties. I started as a college graduate with an Art degree and very single and now I’m married with two kids with a HR certification and as a public notary. Thank you for opening up doors for me to meet so many amazing people (highlight of my life is still meeting Chad Michael Murray 🤭) and to travel and meet so many families. Thank you for preparing me to be a parent myself as I really am treasuring the time I have with my two babies. I’m also taking this time to continue purse matchmaking through Vintage Bag Babes (be sure to follow us on IG 💗).

As for the next chapter, if anyone is looking for a hardworking, loyal, enthusiastic, super planner, let me know! I’m up for hire and would love to make my next chapter with another great company xo

  1. I’m so sad for you and for all the other long term employees that were laid off. We all loved working at a company where they truly make positive differences in young families lives. I feel like the heart of the company was ripped out.
