The annual girls trip – I’ve always loved the idea of it, but it always seems so hard to actually get calendars to align and add in people getting married and having babies, it feels near impossible to make it happen. The last time we did this was when we turned 30 and right before the pandemic hit…well 7 years later WE FINALLY DID IT! My elementary school friends (yes, we met when we were 8 years old) and I finally got out of the group chat and took a much needed weekend away together. We couldn’t go too far because one of us was almost 37 weeks pregnant and needed to be near her hospital so we rented a gorgeous Airbnb across the bridge from where we all grew up and were just together.

We had no itinerary or agenda, just loose plans to eat at Spud Point and maybe hike (I did not read the group chat thoroughly and was not prepared to hike btw so I was in birks…🤪) and most of all just catch up and be together. We see each other once a year during Secret Santa, but it’s usually chaos with our kids running around and husbands…running around 😝 So to have undivided time together is such a gift!

We talked through what’s going on now, we reminisced about our past and what we had coming up to do – tears were had and so much laughter. I didn’t know how much I needed this weekend until I was there. I always know it’s such a gift this friendship of almost 30 years, but to really be surrounded by it and to know how much life we’ve lived together and apart – it’s truly so amazing! Especially since we are SO DIFFERENT! We’re like the Spice Girls – all different spices (I call dibs on Posh 🤭), who happened to live in the same 5 block radius of each other.

Anyways, this post is really just a reminder to do the trip with your friends because time together is getting harder to plan so just do it! You need time to fill your cup too and a few nights away and girl talk will do your soul good. Also this post is a little love letter to my girlfriends – BFGs, I’m forever thankful we chose each other on the playground 25+ years ago. Looking forward to our next trip xo
